Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a systematic approach that focuses on improving socially significant changes in one’s behavior through the implementation of various principles of learning. Through the use of evidence-based practices, ABA strives to increase a child’s positive behaviors, while decreasing challenging behaviors that may hinder a child’s ability to learn and make strides. ABA targets various skill areas, including functional communication skills, personal-social skills, cognition and self-help skills. ABA utilizes motivation and positive reinforcement in teaching the child socially significant behaviors. Throughout the implementation of an ABA program, ongoing staff will record and analyze data on a weekly basis to track progress and make adjustments to programs as needed.
ABA is widely recognized as a safe and effective treatment for autism. It has been endorsed by a number of state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Surgeon General. ABA principles and techniques can improve basic skills such as eye contact, following directions and imitating, as well as, complex skills such as reading, interacting appropriately with others and understanding another person’s perspective.

How ABA works:
An experienced and trained Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will conduct an assessment to determine the child's current developmental levels. With the assistance of the child's family, individual goals will be discussed and created by the BCBA. Once goals are created, line therapy staff will implement the treatment plan which is overseen weekly by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). In collaboration with the child's family and treatment team, we will assist clients in reaching their fullest potential.
